Wax Box Cards follows industry standards for grading. Grades are best estimates. We evaluate corners, surface, edges, and centering. Other things that we look for include wax stains, other stains, indentations, wrinkles, and/or creases.
Near Mint (NRMT) - Based on human eye (magnification is not considered): Corners are sharp, surface is clean, edges are clean and centering is no worse than 60/40. No other visible distractions.
Excellent - Excellent Mint (EX-EXMT) - Possible to have light visible surface wear or a printing defect that does not distract. A very light scratch may be detected under scrutiny. Corners may have slightly graduated fraying. Picture focus may be slightly out-of-register. May have very slight chipping on edges.
Very Good - Very Good/Excellent (VG-VGEX) - Corners may be slightly to completely rounded. Surface wear is noticeable but modest. Light scuffing or light scratches may be visible. Some original gloss will be retained. A light crease may be visible.
Good (G) = Corners have heavy rounding and surface wear is clearly visible. Other possible faults include scratching, scuffing, staining, or chipping of enamel on obverse. There may be several creases.
Poor/Filler (P) - These are low quality cards with many condition issues. The card is no better than poor and is likely to include: many of the above condition problems and significant creases, marks or writing, heavy stains or water marks, paper loss, recoloring, known trimming/cutting or other significant damage or alteration.
There is a level of subjectivity to grading - so please ask questions and/or carefully review the images for your own personal asssessment.
